Amilcar Shabazz

Amilcar Shabazz is the founder and board president of the nonprofit cultural organization Sankofa Gumbo which seeks to educate and unify people through the engagement with the cultures of people of African descent around the world, especially through the interpretation and preservation of our food ways.

Shabazz comes from a family of educators and entrepreneurs who have taught in schools and have been grocers, butchers, barbecue masters, and involved in making and selling goods as diverse as art, real estate, monuments and burial vaults, transportation services and audiovisual recordings and media production.
